The meeting was hosted by Open Farm Agora – Food Hub at the Consumers' Market retail wing of the Athens Fruit & Vegetable Central Market, a central wholesale market that hosts approximately 350 wholesalers and supplies fresh fruit and vegetables to a large proportion of the Greek population.
Stakeholders of the Greek OGP network invited to the kick-off meeting were identified and contacted during the mapping phase by the knowledge broker, Panagiotis Papadopoulos, through personalised invitations that clearly explained the purpose of the network, the expected level of engagement, and the potential benefits of participation.
The meeting was attended by 15 participants (10 in person and 5 online), representing different OGP stakeholder groups: producers (5), advisors (3), researchers (5), input providers (1), and certification bodies (1).
The meeting enabled participants to get to know each other, share their expectations and challenges, and collectively define a common agenda for the Greek OGP network. The priorities identified for the newly established Greek OGP network were: organic seed and plant reproductive material (PRM) availability, soil health and fertility, plant protection, production costs and sustainability, the organic legal framework, and consumers' attitudes and related market issues.
Stakeholders agreed to meet regularly, either in person or online, to exchange knowledge and good practices, organize and participate in thematic workshops, use a common communication channel, and work together to implement joint pilot activities.
