Naturland - Verband für ökologischen Landbau e.V. - Association for organic agriculture

Naturland is a pioneering international association for organic producers. Founded in Germany in 1982, this non-profit organisation's mission is to promote the science and practical application of organic methods in all areas of food production, develop them further, and communicate their benefits to the public. Naturland was one of the first organizations to combine ecological and social sustainability by including workers' rights in its core standards. Additionally, the voluntary "Naturland Fair" add-on certification combines organic farming, social responsibility and fair trade. Naturland sets rigorous standards for organic farming, aquaculture, forestry, food processing and more, often surpassing the requirements of EU organic regulations. Today, Naturland certified organic producers can be found in over 60 countries.

 Role in project

Naturland is a leading organisation in organic agriculture with a world-wide network and connections to over 125,000 organic producers. The organisation is invested in disseminating organic knowledge and has extensive experience of leading similar EU projects. Naturland is therefore a natural fit as project coordinator for BIOGREENET with both technical and financial implementation roles. Naturland is responsible for fostering knowledge exchange and innovation (work package 8) as well as project management activities (work packages 12–14).
