CREA – Council for Agricultural Research and Economics
CREA is the leading public research organization in Italy dedicated to agriculture, agri-food, and forestry. It conducts scientific research and provides technical support to promote sustainable farming systems, innovation, and rural development. CREA integrates multidisciplinary expertise to address challenges across the entire agri-food chain.
Role in the project
As a national public research body under the Ministry of Agriculture and with its strong track record in national and EU projects related to Organic Good Practices (OGP), CREA brings in-depth scientific expertise and practical knowledge of organic farming systems. Notably, CREA coordinated the Greenresilient project (2018–2022), which focused on resilient and agroecological cropping systems in organic protected horticulture – laying key foundations for BIOGREENET. Building on this experience, CREA contributes to BIOGREENET by actively supporting the dissemination of research findings and promoting knowledge transfer to stakeholders. CREA leads local networking activities and gathers practical knowledge (work package 1) and is responsible for the sustainability of local OGP networks (work package 8, Task 8.3).
