COEXPHAL – Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producers Organisation of Almeria
COEXPHAL represents a large network of growers, advisors and other stakeholders in the Almeria region of Spain (ca. 140 Producers' Organizations and 11.000 farmers). It supports its members by promoting sustainable production practices, facilitating market access, and advocating for the interests of fruit and vegetable producers. The organisation plays a key role in fostering innovation and sustainability within the local horticultural sector.
Role in the project
As a global leader in greenhouse cultivation, COEXPHAL unites over 100 cooperatives of greenhouse producers in the Almeria region. Through its Agricultural Innovation Centre it drives research and development activities with partner companies to tackle key challenges facing the sector.
COEXPHAL is responsible for several activities across the project, focusing on technical evaluation and business planning to support the transition to organic greenhouse systems. This includes:
- Preparing technical assessments and setting up a framework for classifying and evaluating collected technical knowledge (work package 3, Tasks 3.1–3.3)
- Conducting technical assessments for evaluating collected knowledge (work package 4, Task 4.2)
- Developing a toolbox to support the creation of conversion and business plans (work package 5, Task 5.3)
- Adapting conversion and business plans to different regional and production contexts (work package 6, Task 6.3)
- Finalising comprehensive conversion and business plans for practical implementation (work package 7, Task 7.3)
